No Change

Two years ago, a prominent person with connections with the Malaysian government was linked to a murder of a Mongolian model, Atantulya Shaaribu.  They had an affair but towards the end, she was extorting him for money and trying to blackmail him and they found her body, blown up to bits in a forest clearing.

This man (I can’t even remember his name) is closely linked to the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and the press hints that he might have had something to do with the murder.

In the past, our goverment officials have been allowed to get away with corruption, murder and all that is not above board.  We as a nation, have been hoping that under PM Abdullah Badawi’s leadership, as he promised to clear up corruption, that this case would be handled fairly.

Just last week, the supposed murderer was acquitted of all charges as there was insufficient evidence that he committed the murder.  However, the two policemen he had hired to do the dirty work for him are going to be held on trial. Once again the powerful has escaped from any sort of punishment and the weak are made to pay for their crimes.
